Transferring the Learning - the elusive idea of improving one act by practicing another, thereby speeding the learning process, is a common concept to both the Feldenkrais Method and Judo. Dr. Feldenkrais aimed to embody this abstract concept with physical movements. Moti will illuminate this idea using the Rolling the Fists lesson, as taught in Alexander Yanai and the Amherst Training.
We'll explore our ability to transfer learned skills, applying them at different levels of action and intention. Knowing that Judo had a significant influence on the Feldenkrais Method, the newly acquired skills will be transferred, emphasizing the response to changes in the environment, thus assuring our self-preservation.
Participants will need a wooden stick. It could be a broom, a walking cane or any smooth stick about 4 feet long. Please prepare a comfortable space to move on the floor for the Awareness Through Movement lesson.
